ScumFromTheSun (ex Scum) was born as an attempt to experiment with electroacoustic forms of music, with no compromise.
It is an open collective that also declares its intentions through installations, video and other forms of visual art.
The group was founded in 2003 by Cash (synths, sound manipulation) and Black Mikey (bass), both coming from different experiences but united by their common passion for experimental and unconventional music.
The band's music is at first an extremely tough industrial noise, based on audio editing, bass and synthesizers manipulation.
In 2004 with this sound they released their first self-titled demo “Scum” with DecimoPianeta records.
In 2005 Claudio Giuntini (drum machine, bass, guitar) joins the collective and the band collaborates with the acting and dance company ChasmaGes in the live performance “FeuerEnergie”, that mix music with theatre, dance and juggling, all in the name of fire. The show is performed several times all over Italy.
After the enlargement of the number of the components the name changes into “Scum from the Sun”, and the music becomes a mixture of doom, psychedelic dark, post rock, dark ambient and noise.
In 2009, with the contribution of the bass player Mattew “Ass” Lucieri they released the album "Scum From The Sun", published with AfeRecords, receiving excellent press reviews.
In 2010 a new collaboration with Hyena (drum machine, sampler, synth) starts. He will follow the band live and in studio from now on.
The band usually uses video projections in their live performances, produced by different video makers.
